My Secret Chocolate Balls Recipe

Chocolate Balls

I don’t usually have contingency plans. I’m not that organized. I believe that contingency plans are for governments.

But there are exceptions. Sometimes I have to deal with a minor catastrophe or (using a more positive attitude) a minor challenge. Like when I‘m in a huge rush to pick up the kids from school, and I know that I’m not going to make it unless I fly there.
I always have a contingency plan especially for that kind of crisis.

But today I want to talk about my ‘last minute invitation’ contingency plan. 


Once in a while I like to spontaneously visit friends or family at short notice, and I don’t like to arrive empty-handed.

This is when I get out my secret recipe for chocolate balls. My kids love to help me. We make them quickly (years of practice pays off!) and that leaves me plenty of time for the main task: wrapping.

Chocolate Mixture

I always try to wrap the chocolate balls as nicely as I can and they always get great compliments.

Chocolate Balls Recipe

·        1 cup sugar

·        ½ cup cocoa powder

·        ½ cup milk

·        ¼ cup wine

·        Vanilla.

Mix the ingredients together in a cooking pot. When it's ready, turn off the heat.

·        100 grams margarine .

Slowly add the margarine to the cooking pot.

·        1 pound (500 grams) chocolate biscuit cookies.

Crush the biscuits with your hands.

Mix with the melted chocolate mixture.

·        Coconut flakes .

Roll the balls in the coconut flakes.

Chill in refrigerator.

Voila! You're done!

Valentine’s Day Crafts Ideas - Adding A Personal Touch To Your Presents

Here it comes again, that valentine’s day…I wish I had known how to celebrate this occasion. To be honest, many years of happy marriage doesn’t make it easier, on the contrary, I’ve already used all the good ideas in several variations during the years, and I guess this whole ceremony feels a little sticky and artificial. I mean, why now? Shouldn’t we celebrate our love every day

Keeping that spark of love in a long term relationship is a daily job. This “spark” is slightly pampered, and must be preserved as well as nourished constantly. Now valentines comes, and forces me to evoke long-forgotten feelings as excitement, heart bits, blushing, daydreaming (there’re probably more that I’d forgotten about). Who needs that? I’m feeling comfortable in my own peaceful routine.

“What should I buy him??? I’m not going to make a big fuss of it.”

I’ll try to find out what "valentine's day gift" he’d like to have. Sometimes it’s really hard to figure out men, but we women, do have our ways. It should also be taken into consideration that he doesn’t want anything, and wishes that I let saint valentine rest in peace.

The main issue to take care of is to let him know exactly what I expect him to buy me, where to find it, what color (and he’d better hurry, before the dill is over).

Finally, I’ll take him to a romantic restaurant where we could surprise each other with our lovely gifts. Life is full of surprises isn’t it?

Of course It’s The thought that counts, and not the price, therefore adding a little personal touch to a present is essential. Here are a few samples I’ve made:

Recycling and nostalgia

 I'm not the kind of person to accumulate just anything. Usually ,I don't get attached to things such as clothes, furniture or even my own paintings.
On the contrary,the rejoicing of throwing is more like me.
I love making room for new stuff, my strategy here is trying not to get too nostalgic no matter what!

Although, there are moments when I think: maybe I can use this lamp for decorating the kids' room. Maybe this shirt will look great if I just cut off the sleeves...
that's when I know the recycling freak that within me is coming out! therefore, I have to lie down for a moment and let it go a way.
Here's an object that survived my Memories elimination lust.

That's the nature of old stuff. they keep on bringing up old memories, and maybe it isn't so bad after all.

Over the years I've succeeded to develop quite an impressive ability to improvise.
Some would call this creativity, but the way I see it, it's the end result of my being a disorganized person.
Lack of planning for the long run causes the need for major improvisation.

Last week my son was "suddenly" invited to a friend's birthday. 

luckily, I found a present that was left deep Inside my closet.
I didn't have any wrapping paper handy, so:
1. I took Cellophane paper and drew strips right on it in two different color markers (holding them all together).
2. Underneath the Cellophane paper I placed a white paper . Than I added  one of  my son's drawings  and  another layer of Cellophane ( this is where it gets more interesting and creative) and wrapped the present with them all.

Playing around with it can be a lot of fun, don't you think?

Well... here I am, talking to myself again... Oh well, good night.
